IFFB BOSTON TUMBLR MEETUP!

Hey all you Bostonian Tumbl-heads! (500) Days of Summer is playing at the Somerville theaters on April 24th at 7pm as part of the 2009 Independent Film Festival Boston! (thanks derbygirl)

SO… I was thinking anyone interested in seeing the movie should grab a ticket online at the IFFB site (see above) and join us. its only 9$ and you get a chance to see it before everyone else does in July!

After the movie we can chill at the Diesel Cafe down the road for a little while and I’m gonna try and get some Tumblr Stickers to hand out.

Lauren and I are going to Water Taxi Beach tomorrow night to participate in some beach volleyball, and you are welcome, even if you have no interest in v-ball. There’s a bar and tent, so even though it might rain, there’s still an opportunity to have some drinks and chill.

DATE: Monday August 11th, 2008
LOCATION: Water Taxi Beach - Long Island City, Queens
TIME: 6:30PM - 9:30PM
COST: $10 PER PERSON (pay at the entrance)

Big City Volleyball & Metro Beach Sports invite you to play beach volleyball tonight - Monday evening August 11th from 6:30pm - 9:30pm @ Water Taxi Beach located in Long Island City, Queens.

All levels of play welcome!!!

If you haven’t been to Water Taxi Beach yet then what are you waiting for? With great views and three courts there will be plenty of action for everyone.

Feel free to stop by the bar and grab a beer when you’re finished. Then just kick back and enjoy those views we told you about.

Updated Information Please Note - YOU NEED TO BE AT LEAST 21 YEARS OLD AND HAVE A VALID I.D. TO GET INTO WATER TAXI BEACH AS IT IS A BAR. ADDITIONALLY NO OUTSIDE BEVERAGES ARE PERMITTED EXCEPT WATER. GATORADE & WATER ARE SOLD AT THE BAR.

Directions:

Water Taxi Beach is on the Waterfront in Long Island City, one stop from Manhattan on the 7 Train. Hunters Point. L.I.C. (Btwn 2nd St & Borden Avenue).

By Train: From Grand Central Station take the 7 train one stop to the Vernon Blvd/Jackson Ave stop in Queens. When you exit the train station walk on Jackson South West towards the Manhattan Skyline. When you get near the Midtown Tunnel follow the signs for 495 West until you reach 51st Avenue. Turn right on 51st and walk to 2nd Street. Turn left on Second Street. Walk past the Crab House and the TennisPort and then turn RIGHT into our driveway.

By Car: Travel to Borden and Second St. At Borden Ave and Second Street you will see the sign for the New York Water Taxi. If you need to Google or MapQuest Map of 2-03 Borden Ave Long Island City, NY 11101, US) directions. Use 2-03 Borden Ave, 11101 (that’s the address for the Water Front Crab House).

I’m curious- what was the overall sample number of votes? Corner Bistro should have a much smaller piece of the pie in my opinion. I had the worst experience there last time! Ugh, thinking about it almost makes me sick.

Ok, so stemming from my burgr meetup post yesterday - should we use this as jumping off point? In one day, we could go to:

Ok, I’m gonna admit it, I’ve never had Shake Shack. Yeah, I know, sue me. I promise to have it in the next few weeks. I’ve also never been to Corner Bistro or had a Burger at Luger’s.

I have had: Lucky Burger, Brgr, White Horse, Burgers and Cupcakes, Five Guys, Jackson Hole, Chelsea Grill, Island Burger (the chicken is way better), 123 Burger Shot Beer Sliders, Route 66 Cafe, and my personal favorite, Burger Joint.

I’m proposing we get a group together, create a consensus on the top 5-7 places to try throughout the five boroughs, and ultimately decide who has the best burger in NYC. This should take an entire day, especially if there’s some travel involved; but that’s probably better for our digestion.

Sure I know this has been done before, but not by me, not by us. So really, it doesn’t count. As we speak, Soup is surveying the unwashed masses (Met fans) to see what they think. Maybe we use those results as a jumping off point - or maybe we strike out on our own.

Now the real question: Who’s with me?
